Accredited Photovoltaics Test Laboratory


The accredited photovoltaics test laboratory of the ZAE offers various measurements on photovoltaic modules. The first test laboratory for photovoltaics in northern Bavaria which is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS) - the national accreditation body for the Federal Republic of Germany - under the number D-PL-18525-01-00 is located at the ZAE in Erlangen since February 2015.


The independence and correctness of our measurements is ensured by a variety of measures. All relevant measurement devices are calibrated by DKD calibration laboratories on a regular basis. By comparative measurements within the framework of round robins and comparisons with outdoors measurements we ensure, that our measurements exhibit a constant quality. Furthermore all measurements are validated in detail and all procedures are included in a complete quality management system.

The following tests on crystalline photovoltaic modules are accredited and can be ordered from us:


  •  STC IV characteristics according to IEC 61215:20 10.2 (Flasher)
  • Low light measurement according to IEC 61215:20 10.7
  • Wet leakage current test according to IEC 61215:20 10.15
  • Electroluminescence according to ZAE-HN-EL 101
  • Lock-In-Thermography according to ZAE-HN-IR 102

Furthermore we offer more test according to current standards outside of the accreditation scope:


  • Climatic chamber tests for small scale modules
  • Constant light simulators in small or large scale are available for light soaking and other tests
  • An outdoor test site offers the possibility for long term experiments
  • Individual special tests or experimental setups can be arranged
